Rumour has it that Davido is partly responsible for the break up between May-D & Square Records.
This started when Davido financed May-D’s star-hit video Ile Ijo. The act angered the CEO of Square Records Jude “Engees” Okoye. The video was directed by Clarence Peters, and featured friends of both May-D and Davido, and also dancer Kaffy, but none of the Square Records members.
May-D was also not happy with Square Records, for the fact that the label had not provided him the apartment, car, money and other items under the terms of agreement. May-D was often embarassed that Davido and his other friends had to come to pick him up from his family house in Magodo whenever they were hanging out.
Davido has also been fingered as the mastermind of his purported beef with Wizkid, a rumour he quickly dispelled saying “Wizzy is my brother”. The duo are reportedly in the studio working on a hit collabo. Now the collabo thingy looks to me a very smart way to squash beef rumours, innit? Artistes please take note!
