D’BANJ WINS “BEST AFRICAN ACT” AT THE 2012 EDITION OF THE MOBO AWARDS
Koko master, D’banj yesterday at the Echo Arena, Liverpool won the ‘Best African Act’ at the 2012 edition of the MOBO Awards.
The G.O.O.D music crooner beat the likes of Psquare, Fatoumata Diawara, The Very Best, Spoek Mathambo, Fally Ipupa, Sarkodie, Cabo Snoop, Camp Mulla and Amadou and Mariam to walk away with the coveted prize.
This is D’banj’s first MOBO award as he joins the list of past Nigerian winners: 2face Idibia (2007) 9ice (2008) and Nneka (2009) and Wizkid (2011).
D’banj recently lost out of the MTV Europe Music Award ‘Best Worldwide Act’ category to Moroccan singer, Ahmed Soultan, who will represent the Africa/India/Middle East region at the Awards in Frankfurt on the 11th of November.
