AIR FORCE HELICOPTER CRASH-LANDS IN PORTHARCOURT; CREW ESCAPE UNHARMED

A military helicopter belonging to the Nigerian Air force has crashed Thursday afternoon at the NAF base in PortHarcourt, Rivers State, South South Nigeria.

Reports reveal that the helicopter was already in descent when the pilot lost control causing it to crash land. The chopper, a gunship apparently carried ammunition as the crash sent off sparks and explosions. Men of the fire service responded promptly at the scene. No casualties was recorded as the crew escaped unharmed. The air force identified the helicopter as a Russian-made Mi-24B attack helicopter.
